The use of a pallet truck requires strict adherence to safety operating procedures and the performance of routine maintenance.
Safety Operating Procedures
Before commencing work, inspect components such as the battery, brakes, steering, and hydraulic system to ensure they are responsive and reliable. It is strictly forbidden to carry passengers on the equipment, and under no circumstances should it be operated beyond its rated load capacity. During transit, rapid turns at high speeds are prohibited. Ensure you observe your surroundings and slow down when turning; operation in blind spots is strictly forbidden. Before lifting a load, ensure that the forks are fully inserted beneath the pallet. When starting, accelerate smoothly; avoid sudden acceleration or abrupt changes in direction. When the electric pallet truck is not in use, lower the forks to their lowest position and store the vehicle in a designated area. After use, the electric pallet truck must be recharged promptly.
Routine Maintenance and Care
Daily Maintenance: Keep the vehicle body and battery surfaces clean. Check that power cables are securely connected and that the drive chains have the proper tension. Weekly Maintenance: Check all fasteners for looseness; inspect chain link pins for bending or distortion; verify that the inner and outer masts move smoothly during lifting and lowering; check hydraulic connections for oil leaks; and inspect mechanical components for abnormal wear, as well as electrical components for abnormal heat generation or sparking. Periodic Maintenance: For mechanical components, every six months, apply lubricant to the drive wheel gears and bearings, lubricate all pivot points, check that fasteners remain secure, verify that the wheels rotate freely, and ensure the forks lift and lower correctly. For the hydraulic system, every 12 months, inspect the condition of the hydraulic cylinders, connections, and hoses for leaks; check the cleanliness of the hydraulic fluid; and generally, replace the hydraulic fluid once every 12 months. For electrical components, every three months, check the specific gravity of the battery electrolyte to ensure it is within the proper range; clean the battery terminals; securely tighten all electrical connections; and verify that switches and electrical insulation are functioning correctly. Battery-Specific Maintenance: Avoid overcharging or over-discharging the battery. Upon completion of charging, check the electrolyte levels and replenish with distilled water as needed. Ensure adequate ventilation during charging, and strictly prohibit open flames or smoking in the vicinity.
